Diego Perez

Associate Professor of Economics at New York University

Diego Perez is an Associate Professor of Economics at New York University. His research focuses on international macroeconomics and finance, particularly the analysis of economic fluctuations and macroeconomic policies in open economies. His work spans topics such as economic and financial crises, sovereign debt and default, exchange rate fluctuations, and dollarization. His research combines empirical and theoretical analysis to address questions with significant implications for macroeconomic policy design. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University and a B.A. in Economics from Universidad de Montevideo, Uruguay. Diego is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and was previously a Kenen Fellow and Visiting Professor at Princeton University. He is the recipient of the Raúl Trajtemberg Award, the highest honor conferred on young Uruguayan economists, and the Morosoli Award for contributions to Uruguayan culture.
