Seventy years ago in 1954, W. Arthur Lewis published the pioneering article Economic development with unlimited supplies of labour in the Manchester School. It was a foundational scholarly piece for the field of development economics, in particular structural change; see also this biography. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1979.

Keynote speakers are Gérard Roland (University of California, Berkeley and CEPR) and Richard Rogerson (Princeton University).

We now invite submissions from interested researchers on topic within structural change, economic growth and macro development, and economic history of development. Only full-length papers will be considered.

The submission deadline is Tuesday, 27 August 2024, 6PM (CEST), 5PM (BST), 12PM (EDT).

  2. After you have logged in, go to https://hub.cepr.org/event/4417
  3. Click on "Step 1: Apply"
  4. Under "Apply to Attend" click "Yes"
  5. Tick the boxes that apply to you. You can apply to attend without a paper, or tick "Would you like to submit a paper?" to submit a paper.
  6. Click "Submit form" to complete your application.

Authors who do not have a CEPR HUB profile can upload their submission by:

Funding

Travel and accommodation funding can be provided to participants according to the CEPR Travel Guidelines. The organizers appreciate it if you are able to use your own research funds for attendance.
