€-coin decreases in September

• €-coin decreased slightly in September (to 0.14, from 0.29 in August), standing at about 0.2 on average in the third quarter.
• The fall in the indicator reflected the worsening in the qualitative indicators for firms and the confirmation of the negative signs for the manufacturing cycle.
• The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
• The next publication dates for €-coin are Wednesday, 6 November 2024 and Wednesday, 4 December 2024 (to be confirmed).
