CEPR's Research and Policy Network on Fintech and Digital Currencies and the Study Center Gerzensee are inviting submissions for a conference on the rapidly changing financial landscape. The meeting will be held in Gerzensee, Switzerland, on 9–11 October 2024. Professor Charles Calomiris (Columbia Business School) will deliver the keynote address.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
• Historical perspectives on the interplay between economics, politics, and the monetary system.
• Effect of platforms and fintech innovations on the role of banks in financial intermediation.
• Impact of digital ledgers, atomic settlement, and asset tokenisation on the financial system.
• Current state and future prospects of blockchain finance, including cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and decentralised governance.
• Central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), tokenised deposits, stable coins and the singleness of money. What vision for the future?
• Collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors in driving fintech innovation and creating synergies.
• Approaches to ensuring data security in fintech applications, addressing concerns related to privacy, cybersecurity, and KYC-AML compliance.
• Artificial Intelligence and finance.

Presenters and discussants may request travel support according to CEPR travel guidelines.
