Herman Vollebergh

Professor of Economics and Environmental Policy at Tilburg University

Herman Vollebergh is professor of Economics and Environmental Policy at Tilburg University (Department of Economics, Tilburg Sustainability Centre and CentER), Senior Research Fellow at the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, and CESifo Research Fellow in München. His teaching, research and consulting interests cover a broad range of topics including the design and effects of incentive mechanisms to steer major transitions, such as the net zero ambition for 2050, He extensively studied the use of taxation, subsidies, tradeable permits and standards in the energy, waste and car market, cost-benefit analysis and discounting, the long run relationship between emissions and income, and the effect of environmental policy on technological change. He has extensively worked together with the policy community at the OECD, IMF, European Union and the Dutch government. Currently he is involved as external expert in the work of the Inclusive Framework on Carbon Mitigation Approaches that the OECD has just started.
