Jagjit S Chadha is Director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research. He is a Visiting Professor at Cambridge. He was previously Professor of Economics at the University of Kent, the University of St Andrews and Fellow at Clare College, Cambridge. He was educated at University College London and the London School of Economics and then moved to the Bank of England as an Official working on Monetary Policy.
He has also spent time as Chief Quantitative Economist at BNP Paribas and is currently Chair of the Money, Macro, Finance Study Group and has acted as Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons Treasury Committee and Academic Adviser to both the Bank of England and HM Treasury, and to many central banks, including the Bank for International Settlements. He is Editor of the series Modern Macroeconomic Policy-making by Cambridge University Press and the 2014-2017 Gresham Professor of Commerce-elect. His main research interests are developing the links between finance and macroeconomics in general equilibrium models.
