Joseph Flavian Gomes is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Economics School of Louvain and the Institute of Economic and Social Research (IRES/LIDAM) at UCLouvain; a Research Affiliate in the International Trade and Regional Economics programme, and the Development Economics Programme of CEPR; and an Invited Researcher at J-PAL. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University Carlos III of Madrid and has worked at the Universities of Essex and Navarra prior to joining UCLouvain. His primary research interests are in the fields of Development Economics and Political Economy. In particular, his research focusses on questions of ethnic and linguistic identity, ethnic diversity, conflict and gender inequality.
