Deputy Head of Research Unit "Pensions and Sustainable Financial Markets" at Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW)

Karolin Kirschenmann is deputy head of ZEW's research unit “Pensions and Sustainable Financial Markets”. Her research focuses on the areas of banking and (global) financial intermediation. On the one hand she studies the spread of crises through global banking networks and the consequences for the real economy, on the other hand the behaviour of depositors in crises. Her latest research is concerned with the role of banks in the transformation to a net-zero economy. Her work has been published, among others, in the Review of Finance, the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking and the Journal of Financial Intermediation. She graduated from the University of Heidelberg. Prior to joining ZEW she was an Assistant Professor of Finance at Aalto University in Helsinki.
