Pierre Bachas is an economist in the Development Research Group (DEC-RG) at the World Bank. He received a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley in 2016. He is also an International Research Associate at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. His research interests are in Public Finance, Financial Inclusion and Development Economics. His primary focus is on how tax evasion, informality and economic structure impact the design of tax policy in lower income countries.
