Sebastian Doerr is a senior economist at the Bank for International Settlements. He does research on financial intermediation, with a focus on the implications of financial innovation and the rise of non-bank financial institutions for financial stability and the real economy. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics. It has been widely cited in the media, including by the New York Times, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Forbes, and The Economist. He currently ranks among the top-100 most-cited young economists on RePEc. Sebastian was awarded the European Economic Association's `Young Economist Award' as well as the `Young Innovators Award' by Plansecur. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Zurich.
