CEPR was saddened to hear of the death of Victor D. Norman.
Victor, a former professor of Economics at the Norwegian School of Economics, who also served as Norway’s minister of labour and administration between 2001 and 2004, was a longstanding and very influential Research Fellow in CEPR’s International Trade and Regional Economics programme. His many contributions to CEPR include Discussion Papers and books, and he was an author of three different CEPR Monitoring European Integration reports (in 1992, 1999 and 2000), which were influential in shaping policy.
More widely, his 1980 book Theory of International Trade: A Dual, General Equilibrium Approach, co-authored with Avinash K. Dixit and published by CUP, is still widely regarded as a central contribution to the understanding of international trade.
