Javier Suarez is a Professor of Finance at CEMFI, Madrid. He is also a Research Fellow of the CEPR and a Research Associate of the ECGI. He earned a PhD in Economics at Universidad Carlos III, Madrid. His research and teaching activities cover mainly the areas of corporate finance and banking, with a special focus on the analysis of bank regulation, the linkages between macroeconomics and banking, and macro-prudential policies. He has numerous publications in top economics and finance journals. In 2013-2014 he served as an academic advisor to the Macro-prudential Research Network (MaRs) of the European System of Central Banks. Since March 2015 he is member of the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB).
